Silk, Latticello and Seafoam

These three ranges further explore how an integrated light source amplifies the natural beauty of glass, itself a singular material.

Silk is brand new design, where the main technique revolves around winding very, very thin trails of clear glass around a blown form so that the central light is distorted and captured by each of the threads .
Latticello is a modern take upon an ancient Roman technique that allows thin white glass cane to be twisted creating a unique optical pattern.

The Seaform range is inspired by microscopic organisms that inhabit the depths of the oceans; these unusual chandeliers evoke the dark but often illuminated environments of the deep.

In response to a clients' brief we have been developing a new range of glass vessels that incorporate a veil of fine trails that melt onto the surface of the blown glass ball. When lit these show the internal light up as an elongated accent throughout the centre of the piece.

3. 'Silk'

This was the second chandelier we were asked to produce in a very contemporary house in Lancashire .Once again we used 3000K ( neutral - warm LEDs ) mixed with 5000K ( cool white LEDs ) but we also

added discrete dimmable 1 watt down lighters that could be switched independently to illuminate the place settings on the table below.

7. 'Latticello'

Inspired by an ancient Italian technique that utilises coloured glass canes; 'Latticello' refers to any glass piece created with the use of these canes;  in this case formed by heating opaque white glass covered in clear glass that is then pulled to form long sections of thin rod, which are then cut into similar sized sections then adhered to a clear body of hot glass then twisted to form the intricate pattern.

We always appreciate it when we get an enquiry from a client for a new contemporary chandelier to go into a period house. Although the technique we used to make the glass may go back a couple of thousand years , we derive great pleasure when placing a new object into a house that is a few hundred years old.

14. 'Seaform'

These 'Seaform ' Chandeliers are based on small diatoms and other microscopic protozoa from the sea; the chandeliers also include 'Elements' and 'Silk' items and are aesthetic compositions showing how clear glass can be transformed when light is passed through various thicknesses of glass. Much of the forms are basic bubbles to which we have added a large number of glass 'bits' or additions.

Many clients like to select which designs or components go into their chandeliers.
